About LightningBlocks
A browser game that connects gameplay events with real Bitcoin Lightning payments. Trigger actions instantly with tiny sats payments — no traditional payment rails.
What makes this game different?
- Ingame actions can be tied directly to Lightning invoices.
- Payments settle quickly, so events can happen in near real time.
- Micropayments make small, specific actions possible.
- You can play in your browser without installing a client.
How to start
- Open the game and join a session.
- When an invoice appears, pay it with your preferred Lightning wallet.
- Watch the game react as soon as payment is confirmed.
Controls and tips
- Enter: Open chat and use commands like
/help. - Tab: Hold to use your cursor.
- L: Open the Lightning wallet view in game.
- E: Open inventory.
- Use the copy area above the game if you need to paste keys or invoices.
Problems with traditional ingame payments
- Fiat payments need third party payment processors that take a cut of the money. Apple even takes 30%. The developer needs to increase the prices to stay profitable.
- Entering your credit card info into a website is unsafe.
- Payments take long. You often get redirected to some kind of login page of your payment provider for authorization. It then takes some time until the payment is completed.
- You can't trigger any event by that payment. You can just buy an ingame currency.
- You often have to buy more ingame coins than you need. "Buy 1000 diamonds for 20$". But you only need 50 diamonds.
Advantages of Bitcoin Lightning Network
- No third party needed. Payment can go directly to the developer. So prices can be cheaper.
- Settlement is instant and final.
- Payments are easy, if you already use Lightning. If you have a browser extension like Alby installed, it is literally just a button click.
- Micropayments are possible. Just pay that one item for 20 sats (~0.005$).
- Bitcoin is programmable money. You can trigger anything with code like this:
if(payment_successful) { trigger_ingame_event(); }
Livestreams — audience pays to change your game
Stream LightningBlocks on Twitch or YouTube. Your audience can request invoices at the store to alter your gameplay. If the invoice is paid, the webserver notifies your game client instantly. Change crosshairs, donate sats, or trigger other events — all powered by programmable Lightning money.
Collect rewards — you get 80% of the sats
Add a Lightning Address or an LNBits invoice key inside the game. When your audience pays invoices, you can get 80% of the sats forwarded to your wallet. Press L in-game to open the Lightning wallet view. For guaranteed payment forwards, create an account on the wallet page and add your LNBits invoice key.
